UN Urges Myanmar to Cooperate With Justice Mechanisms

The new United Nations special rapporteur has urged Myanmar to cooperate with existing international justice mechanisms “to ensure accountability for alleged international crimes.” The international justice mechanisms include the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) and the International Criminal Court (ICC). Thomas Andrews, new special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, said his primary constituents are those whose human rights are under threat or under siege.
