Victims Want Life Sentence for Ugandan War Atrocities

The Trial Chamber IX of the International Criminal Court found Dominic Ongwen guilty in February 2021 of 61 crimes against humanity and war crimes, committed in Northern Uganda between July 1, 2002, and December 31, 2005. While prosecutors told the International Criminal Court that Dominic Ongwen should be given 20 years in prison for atrocities he committed against Ugandans as a leader in the Lord’s Resistance Army, lawyers representing the victims have asked for the maximum sentence of life. readmore
